Lifecycle Stages¶
Lifecycle stages track where a contact is in their journey from first touch to becoming a customer. Every contact has a lifecycle stage that helps you understand their relationship with your business.
Available Stages¶
| Stage | Description |
|---|---|
| Subscriber | Signed up for content or newsletter |
| Lead | Showed initial interest (default for new contacts) |
| MQL (Marketing Qualified Lead) | Met marketing criteria for sales readiness |
| SQL (Sales Qualified Lead) | Vetted and accepted by the sales team |
| Opportunity | Actively engaged in a deal |
| Customer | Closed a deal and became a paying customer |
| Evangelist | Happy customer who advocates for your product |
How Stages Work¶
Lifecycle stages are displayed as colored badges on contact cards and in table views. They progress forward as the contact moves through your sales process.
Updating a Stage¶
You can update a contact's lifecycle stage in several ways:
Via chat:
Via the edit form: Click Edit on a contact card and change the lifecycle stage dropdown.
Automatically: Lifecycle stages can update automatically based on actions, like moving to "Opportunity" when a deal is created or "Customer" when a deal is closed won.
Lead Status¶
In addition to lifecycle stage, contacts have a lead status that tracks engagement:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| New | Recently added, not yet contacted |
| Open | Being actively worked |
| In Progress | Ongoing conversations |
| Unqualified | Does not meet qualification criteria |
| Attempted | Outreach attempted, no response |
| Connected | Successfully connected and engaged |
Pro Tip
Use lifecycle stages for the big picture (where is this person in the buyer journey?) and lead status for day-to-day sales activity tracking.
