Moving a deal to a different stage reflects progress in your sales process. You can move deals forward, backward, or directly to any stage.

How to Move a Deal

Via the Deal Card

Click the Move Stage button on any deal card. A dropdown shows all stages in the current pipeline. Select the new stage to move the deal.

Via the Kanban Board

On the kanban board, drag a deal card from one column to another. Outsprint asks you to confirm the move before saving.

What Happens on a Stage Move

When a deal changes stages:

  1. The stage is updated
  2. The probability updates to the new stage's default (unless manually overridden)
  3. A timeline entry is created: "Deal moved from Demo to Proposal Sent"
  4. Webhooks fire if configured
  5. Slack notifications are sent if configured
  6. Workflow automations trigger if the stage change matches a workflow trigger

Moving to Closed Stages

Moving to Closed Won or Closed Lost has special behavior:

  • Closed Won -- Sets the actual close date and triggers won automations. See Closing deals.
  • Closed Lost -- Asks for a lost reason and sets the actual close date. See Closing deals.

Pro Tip

Ask the AI about stalled deals: "Which deals haven't moved stages in the last 2 weeks?" This helps you identify opportunities that need attention.
