Assigning Tasks

Assign tasks to yourself or team members to distribute work and ensure follow-ups happen.

Task assignment

Assign When Creating

When you create a task, you can assign it to any team member. The default assignee is yourself.

You
Create a task for Mike to review the Acme contract by Thursday
Outsprint AI
Created task "Review the Acme contract" assigned to Mike Johnson, due Thursday.

Reassign a Task

Change the assignee of an existing task at any time:

You
Reassign the Acme contract review task to Sarah
Outsprint AI
Task "Review the Acme contract" has been reassigned from Mike to Sarah Chen.

You can also reassign from the task detail view by clicking Assign and selecting a new team member.

Notifications

When a task is assigned to a team member, they receive a notification (based on their notification preferences). Notifications also fire for:

  • New task assignments
  • Task approaching its due date (if a reminder is set)
  • Overdue tasks

Viewing Assigned Tasks

Each team member sees their own tasks when they type /tasks. Admins and managers can view tasks for the entire team.

You
Show me Mike's tasks
Outsprint AI

Permissions

  • You can see tasks assigned to you regardless of your role
  • Admins and Managers can see and manage all tasks across the team
  • Members can see tasks on records they have access to

Pro Tip

Assign tasks to yourself when you take notes during a meeting. It's the fastest way to capture action items.
